What are some of the leading causes of patches and holes in plaster walls?
No matter how careful you might be, it’s rather easy to cause unwanted damage to the wall. That’s why following a proper maintenance schedule and having a reliable team on standby for accidents is key. Here are a few ways that the damage occurs. -Slamming the door carelessly: rough doorknobs and doorframes can nick the wall each time a door is slammed. -Minor crack becoming a huge problem: just because it looks like a tiny crack now, that doesn’t mean it will stay that way! Keep an eye on any cracks and repair as they appear instead of leaving them to spread. -Termite damage: this is the bane of every homeowner’s existence! When detected early, you can prevent serious damage from termites. Make sure to get your house inspected if you suspect this problem. -Water damage: a cracked pipe or water line can spell serious trouble if not taken care of immediately. This is a double whammy issue that requires treating both the water leakage and affected area simultaneously. |

How do you patch a drywall hole?
We follow a tried and true process to address the root cause of your wall issue. Here’s a sample procedure we follow to fix minor holes in your wall. Keep in mind that larger holes and problems require more work and time.
Step 1: We remove any excess paper surrounding the damaged area so it doesn’t interfere.
Step 2: Next, we line up and cut specialty tape on either side of the hole, sealing it with the drywall compound.
Step 3: The surface is completely covered with more compound using a knife to apply and smooth it down nicely.
Step 4: We let the first layer of compound dry for at least 2 hours. Then, the area is sanded down.
Step 5: The same process is repeated a few more times until the tape is no longer visible and the end result is a smooth surface.
